How to Use the VW Radio RCD 310

The VW Radio RCD 310 is a medium-range radio that was available in some Volkswagen models. It has a CD player that supports MP3 and WMA formats, an AUX input, and an optical display of the parking aid. It also has a speed-sensitive volume control and can control an external 6-disc CD changer. However, it does not have a built-in Bluetooth interface, unless you ordered a mobile phone preparation from the factory.

In this article, we will explain how to use the basic functions of the radio, such as tuning, storing presets, adjusting sound settings, and playing CDs. We will also show you how to connect an external audio source via AUX or Bluetooth. Finally, we will give you some tips on how to troubleshoot common problems with the radio.

Tuning and Storing Presets

To tune the radio, press the FM or AM button to select the desired band. Then use the left or right arrow buttons to search for stations automatically, or turn the rotary knob to tune manually. You can also press and hold one of the arrow buttons to start a scan function that plays each station briefly.

To store a station as a preset, press and hold one of the buttons 1-6 on the radio until you hear a beep. You can store up to six stations per band. To recall a preset, simply press the corresponding button.

Adjusting Sound Settings

To adjust the sound settings, press the SOUND button on the radio. You can then use the rotary knob to select and change the following options:

  • Bass: Adjusts the low-frequency sound level.

  • Treble: Adjusts the high-frequency sound level.

  • Bal: Adjusts the sound balance between the left and right speakers.

  • Fad: Adjusts the sound balance between the front and rear speakers.

  • Volume: Adjusts the overall volume level.

  • GALA: Activates or deactivates the speed-sensitive volume control.

Press the SOUND button again to exit the sound settings menu.

Playing CDs

To play a CD, insert it into the slot on the radio with the label facing up. The radio will automatically switch to CD mode and start playing. You can use the arrow buttons to skip tracks, or press and hold them to fast forward or rewind. You can also use the rotary knob to select tracks directly.

To eject a CD, press the EJECT button on the radio. If you have an external CD changer connected, you can press the CD button repeatedly to switch between discs.

Connecting an External Audio Source

To connect an external audio source via AUX, plug one end of a 3.5 mm audio cable into the AUX input on your radio, and plug the other end into your device's headphone jack. Then press the MEDIA button on your radio until you see AUX on the display. You can then use your device to control playback.

To connect an external audio source via Bluetooth, you need either a factory-installed mobile phone preparation or an aftermarket Bluetooth adapter that plugs into your AUX input. Then you need to pair your device with your radio following the instructions in your device's manual or on your adapter's packaging. Once paired, you can press the MEDIA button on your radio until you see BT-AUDIO on the display. You can then use your device or your adapter's controls to play music or make phone calls.

Troubleshooting Common Problems

If you encounter any problems with your radio, here are some possible solutions:

  • If your radio does not turn on or off, check if there is a fuse blown in your car's fuse box. Replace it if necessary.

  • If your radio does not play CDs or displays an error message, check if there is a disc inserted correctly in the slot. If not, insert one or eject it if it is stuck. If there is a disc inserted correctly, try cleaning it with a soft cloth or using another disc.

If your radio does not receive any stations or has poor reception, check if there is any interference e0e6b7cb5c
